Established in 2007, UNRCCA is a special political mission with a regional mandate in conflict prevention and early warning. In Kyrgyzstan, UNRCCA`s head, Miroslav Jenča, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Central Asia, has applied diligent efforts  to reinforce stability and build peace. UNRCCA works with the authorities, international partners and civil society to stem tensions and violence, encourage the democratic process, and promote reconciliation. UNRCCA continues to monitor inter-ethnic peace and mediation efforts.

“Preventive diplomacy today is delivering concrete results, with relatively modest resources, in many regions of the world, helping to save lives and to protect development gains.”

Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General, Preventive Diplomacy, Delivering Results (2011)
