Kyrgyzstan hosts a regional conference on implementation of UN human rights recommendations and views
A Regional Conference on the holistic implementation of recommendations and views of UN human rights mechanisms at the national level: Good practices, challenges and lessons learned will take place on 09-10 December 2015 at the State Residency, Ala Archa, Kyrgyzstan.

The national conference is organized by the Regional Office for Central Asia of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR ROCA) and foresees the participation on State delegations, National Human Rights Institutions and/or civil society representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

After their independence, Central Asian countries became State parties to the majority of core UN human rights conventions and are reporting regularly to various UN human rights Committees. As a result, they have received hundreds of recommendations on how to implement their human rights obligations under various treaties. The regional conference  follows three national workshops that OHCHR ROCA recently conducted in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan which focused on the development of national human rights action plans (NHRAPs) and the establishment of national mechanisms for reporting and follow-up (NSMRFs). It is expected that the Regional Conference will generate a peer-to-peer discussion among Central Asian stakeholders, who are currently at various stages of developing their NHRAPs and establishing NSMRFs. The two-day event will also provide an opportunity to discuss challenges, share good practices and identify corresponding needs for technical assistance.
